While our storage unit in Peterborough is one of the great places you can visit on a day out in the city, there are lots of other things you can do while in this great city. Some of which the children are likely to enjoy more than our storage unit, so it works as a great bribe for good behaviour. In this blog post we share five great places that you can visit while in Peterborough, after dropping off your things at your personal storage unit.

Peterborough Cathedral definitely has to be visited if you haven’t been there before. People come from all over the world and visit this stunning cathedral, yet many people living in the local area have never been there themselves. It’s in the city centre and completely free to enter. You will need to pay a small donation if you would like to take photos inside this stunning building. It is possible to book a tour where you can climb the steps to the very top. Ely Cathedral can be seen from the top of the cathedral on a clear day. You might even be able to spot our storage unit in Peterborough!

Railworld Wildlife Haven is a brilliant place for a few hours out if you have young children. There is a selection of toy trains whizzing round the track. After walking your own trail through the wildlife haven, you can control some toy trains yourself – and activity that is loved by ‘children’ of all ages. It’s a great place to take your picnic and you can watch the trains passing by too. It’s also the location of many well-known films too.

Ferry Meadows Country Park is a really nice place to let off steam and enjoy the fresh air. It’s a huge country park with numerous walks, trails and routes to follow. There are numerous parks spread across the green space and two fabulous cafes too so you can grab a warm drink or an ice cream, dependent on the weather. With so much space you really can enjoy the great outdoors at Ferry Meadows.

Peterborough Museum is somewhat a hidden treasure of the city. The building was once owned by a Lord, then it became a hospital and is now a museum. It offers 3 floors of history separated into rooms and eras. There is something for the whole family to see and lots to learn too. The art gallery based inside the museum regularly changes, so that is worth looking out for. The café inside the museum offers some delicious afternoon tea treats as well.

Glo Golf is one of the newest and most exciting attractions to the city. It is based in the city centre and gives you the chance to play mini gold inside, in a space scene. The lights are UV, and this helps create a fantastic atmosphere for lots of fun for everyone. Other local activities you might want to try includes the InflataNation and Axe Throwing over at PE1, bowling in Bretton and even ice skating.

We are lucky to have a wide selection of chain and independent restaurants in the city centre and in surrounding areas too. The city is very multi-cultural, and this results in meals for every taste too. From Italian, American, Chinese and Japanese, right through to Polish, Russian, Turkish and Lebanese restaurants too – there really is something for everyone.

Peterborough is blessed with not just one, but three theatres too. We have the Cresset Theatre, The Key Theatre and The New Theatre on Broadway. If you have some items to drop off at our personal storage unit, you could always do it on the way to the theatre? There are always incredible shows, comedy nights, musicals, guest speakers, musicals and more available.

Next time you’re wondering what you can do after using the personal storage space at our storage unit in Peterborough, why not make a day of it? Become a tourist for the day and enjoy the brilliant things that our city has to offer.
